Chaotic vibrations spawned from a mirage
This is the drought that lies in plain sight
 Like a chameleon without its camouflage

Lush forests turned into arid scrubland
Total absence of precipitation
Demise of kingdoms, civilizations decline
Clouds of dust turn skies dark, lodged in residents’ lungs

The well turned hollow and dry, I hear its empty voice
 Cross the great river on a dry foot
This is the drought  that is grinding you down
 Like an everturning mill of desperation would

Drought be the death of us
Dehydration tightens its grip on the land 
Drought be the death of us 
Scorching is the sun in the reign of sand

Hot is the wind that blows through cadaver eyes
Survival, a non-existent word 
Chastised by solar tyranny 
Prayers for rain remain unheard
